"Unique Total Design" in Chesapeake held a haircut-a-thon in honor of Lupus Awareness Month.
In honor of Lupus Awareness Month, one local salon is looking to make a difference with a "Lupus Cut-A-Thon."
The hair salon, Unique Total Design, held the haircut-a-thon Sunday afternoon to raise money for the Lupus Foundation of Virginia.
Lupus is an auto-immune disease that sends signals to the body to attack itself.
April Mason says this event really hit home for her.
"I am forever grateful to everybody who's come out to help, to assist, anything that you've donated and I am just blessed to be a blessing, to give back to the community," April said.
Stylists offered $10 haircuts and $20 flat iron styles.
All of the proceeds went to the Lupus Foundation of Virginia.
