Happy Lupus Awareness Month!

Research has shown that about two-thirds of the public know little or nothing about lupus. Let’s change this — and what better time to start than on the first day of May, which just happens to be the first day of lupus awareness month!

The key to raising awareness about a disease such as lupus is by educating yourself and encouraging others to do so as well. How can you do this? Throughout May, there will be many activities taking place nationwide to help inform the public about lupus and the impact it has on people.

One way you can increase your knowledge about lupus is by playing the KNOW LUPUS Card Game. Play it yourself & challenge your friends and family to do so too. Not only will this game boost your knowledge about lupus, but each time you complete a level, the National Board Chair’s family will make a donation to lupus research! You can also click here to learn more facts. Share them on your social media to spread the word.

Check out this Awareness Toolkit & find everything you’ll need to help start raising lupus awareness this month. This toolkit includes Facebook & Twitter tools, lupus fact sheets, fliers and more — get started today!

Two important dates to keep in mind: World Lupus Day on May 10th & Put On Purple Day on May 15th. World Lupus Day is celebrated in honor of the more than 5 million people living with lupus worldwide. Put On Purple Day is exactly what it sounds like — on the 15th, put on your best purple gear to raise awareness and show support for those affected by lupus. You can click here to submit your photos, as well as look at the ones everyone else has sent in.

Make May your month to take action and spread awareness about lupus!
